HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ONNA!
So, after
Sea of Souls, Ken watched
Quatermass and the Pit (another of his Yule DVDs) while I wrote a little more of Band 3 and thrashed out the plot of the story's main event with Lutra on ICQ. [grin] It should raise the odd chuckle. Then Ken went to bed, and Lutra vanished to do maternal type things with the cubs, it being their long summer holiday over there - and I watched my
CCO808 DVD. And since I know the stories
backwards, I watched in the original Japanese
without the English subtitles...
No, I didn't understand most of it, just the odd word (and verb) here and there, but not having subtitles detracting from the picture was lovely: I was able to really look at the cityscapes, and the parks on the topmost layer, and confirm - from the 'space elevator' shot - that Japan as depicted here still has large areas of woodland (that is, it's
not completely urbanised, which means the bike fic I wrote for Valkyrie still works. And you're right, Val, Sengoku
does have golden brown eyes, first time I've noticed. Then again, I'm usually focussed on [
MINE!!] Benten...) Oh, and Hasegawa uses the 'kisama' form of 'you' when addressing Sengoku for the first time. He may have done so on other occasions too, but the speech is normal speed (
i.e. it left me far behind) and I didn't notice.
[happy grin] I can't remember how many times I've watched the series. It was at least a couple of times a week back when Kai was a baby, and of course I have to watch it every time I write another fic, to make sure the details are correct. I still love it, and it's still my favourite, along with
Trigun (and
Furuba, now). I really
really wish there'd been more than three stories, the premise was so intriguing...
Suppose I ought to think about getting to bed.
Shortly.
Heh. Maybe I'll read a couple of CCO fics first. One of the first things I did when I got online, however many years ago that was, was to find, download and print out all of the fics on the original CCO Geocities website, which is now
here - with, I note, Valkyrie's gorgeous trio pic. It took me all night, and it's
definitely a mixed bag when it comes to quality, but it was worth it. Heh, you could even say that was my first introduction to fanfic writing. And we all know where
that led!
